About

Safe Community Housing seeks to build and expand upon other models often referred to as "sober living" or "transitional housing".

Some of the distinctions can be best understood by breaking down the word “SAFE” as an acronym.

S - SHARED

Understanding housing as a shared endeavor among residents is one way to foster an environment of genuine community. When people are not only focused on their own growth and success but the growth and success of those around them, they get to experience the value of being a part of something bigger than themselves. This not only reduces feelings of isolation and loneliness through camaraderie, but increases positive accountability as well.

A - AFFORDABLE

Housing affordability is a significant hurdle for many people. Those seeking to re-enter normative societal rhythms after incarceration, rehabilitation, or various other difficult circumstances often find themselves up against nearly insurmountable challenges.

Safe Community Housing costs $100 dollars per week for a furnished space that includes all utilities, free laundry facilities, internet access and daily living essentials. No deposit is required.

F - FAIR

Housing is a basic human need and many people are unfairly restricted from having access to it. Lack of credit, lapses in employment, and negative rental history are all common challenges holding people back from securing a place to live. Safe Community Housing seeks to lower as many barriers of entry as possible to help people overcome these hurdles and benefit from the dignity and stability that a home provides.

E - EFFECTIVE

Safe Community Housing is committed to more than just providing an affordable place to live. We seek to cultivate an environment where people are given opportunities to grow and help others do the same. Our homes have a trained resident manager who will take the time to get to know each resident well enough to come along side them to identify and overcome whatever challenges may be keeping them from reaching their goals.
