Community Standards
Safe Community Housing seeks to strike a healthy balance between external accountability and personal responsibility. These Community Standards are intended to shape not only the conduct but the culture within Safe Houses. Safe Community Housing is a shared endeavor among staff and residents to cultivate an environment that gives each person the best opportunity for growth and achieving their goals.
1. Safe Houses are a sober environment. There will be no use of drugs or alcohol on site and residents are expected to maintain sobriety off site as well. This is a zero tolerance policy. Random drug screenings and breathalyzer tests can be issued at any time. Refusal by a resident will be grounds for removal from the house.
2. Attending weekly services in a local church is highly encouraged but not required.
3. Attendance of a weekly house meeting is required. Additional support meetings are highly encouraged.
4. The program fee must be paid on time. This is not just about personal responsibility. Prompt payment ensures the Safe House can continue to provide shelter, mentorship, and care for everyone who resides there.
5. The house curfew is 10:30 p.m. (Sunday through Monday) and 11:30 p.m. (Friday and Saturday) unless special arrangements have been made. Residents are also expected to let the Resident Manager know where they are and when they expect to return when they are not on site.
6. All residents are expected to respect one another and consider themselves a part of one another’s progress and success. If a resident is found to be prone to conflict or lack’s the ability to resolve conflict in healthy ways, their participation in the program may be terminated.
